July 4, 2006
It’s another hot July day in the Southland. It’s hotter than the 5K two days ago, because that was on the beach, and this is a few miles further inland. There are also more than 10 people in this race!
The La Palma course is an unexciting double 5K loop. My first loop is comparable to my 5K two days ago (who knew that I could be fast again?) around 20:20, and then I lose a bit in the second half, probably due to the increasing heat, but I still finish in 43:50, which is good enough for second in my age division.
The prizes at this race are not medals, but duffel bags with your division place on them (1st, 2nd or 3rd… not M35-39, or whatever). Always nice to get something different. Always nice to get something.
